Built around what your business does. Not around what a template assumed.

We build websites and business platforms on our own framework and content management system, shaped to your operation. You get exactly the capability you need — which also means exactly the attack surface you need, and nothing else to patch, license or wait on.

Only what you need No plugin dependency Smaller attack surface You own the code

THE SITUATION

Free software is not free. It is billed later, in instalments.

A ready-made platform looks like a saving on the first day. It comes with a page builder, a shop, a booking module, a forum, a membership system and four hundred settings — of which you will use eleven. Everything else still runs, still loads, still needs updating, and still has to be secured.

The bill arrives afterwards. A plugin author abandons their work. Two extensions stop agreeing after an update. A vulnerability is disclosed publicly, which means every attacker learns about your site at the same moment you do. None of that appears in the original quotation, and all of it lands on whoever is responsible for the site.

SYMPTOMS WE HEAR MOST

Updates are postponed because the last one broke something Nobody is sure what half the installed extensions actually do A feature you need is almost supported, so it is being worked around Site speed is blamed on hosting rather than on what is being loaded

HOW THE WORK RUNS

Build what is needed. Deliberately leave out the rest.

The discipline is not in what we add. It is in what we refuse to add because nobody could name a use for it.

WEEK 1

Establish what the business actually does

Your content, your processes, your customers, your edge cases. Every capability has to earn its place by being something somebody will use.

WEEKS 1–2

Model the content and the rules

Content types shaped to your business rather than generic posts and pages. Roles and permissions that match how your team actually works.

WEEKS 2–6

Build on our own framework

Our content management system and application framework, extended for your requirements. No third-party plugin chain, no dependency we cannot support.

ONGOING

Maintain a small, known surface

Patching a handful of components we wrote and understand, rather than tracking dozens of extensions written by people we have never met.

WE BUILD ON IT OURSELVES

Everything we run is built the way we are describing.

This is not a position we hold in theory. Our own platforms, and our parent company's, run on the same framework — which is why we know what it costs to maintain and what it saves.

This website

Every page you are reading, including this one. No page builder, no plugin chain, no licence renewals.
The content model was designed around solutions, articles and the links between them — which is why an article tagged to a service appears on it automatically.

s͛Card

An advanced digital business card platform holding real contact details for real people.
Purpose-built specifically because the security requirement ruled out assembling it from third-party parts.

Davis Materialworks self-collection system

Our parent company's premises take payment, issue credentials and open lockers around the clock.
Payment, rules, messaging and hardware joined in one platform. No ready-made product does that combination.

If we thought a template would have served these better, we would have used one. They exist because it would not.

THE HONEST COMPARISON

Three ways to get a website. Each is right for somebody.

We are not against ready-made software. We are against choosing it by default, and finding out what it costs eighteen months later.

FREEWARE

Open platforms and free themes

Right for a simple site, a small budget, and someone willing to keep it updated.

WHAT IT GIVES YOU
  • Nothing to pay on day one
  • Enormous choice of extensions
  • Anyone can be hired to touch it
WHAT IT COSTS YOU
  • You inherit every dependency's security record
  • Extensions are abandoned without warning
  • Publicly known vulnerabilities apply to you the moment they are announced
  • Most of the code you run, nobody needed
SHAREWARE

Paid themes, premium plugins, licences

Right when a specific product does exactly what you need and you accept the rent.

WHAT IT GIVES YOU
  • Support you can escalate to
  • More polished than the free equivalent
  • Predictable annual cost
WHAT IT COSTS YOU
  • Costs recur forever and rise
  • Stop paying and features stop working
  • Still assembled from parts you do not control
  • Vendor decides the roadmap, not you
PURPOSE-BUILT

Our framework, shaped to your business

Right when your business does something a template did not anticipate.

WHAT IT GIVES YOU
  • Only the capability you use is built
  • No licence renewals, no feature paywalls
  • The attack surface is small and known
  • Your process, not a template's assumptions
  • The code is yours
WHAT IT COSTS YOU
  • Costs more to start than a template
  • Wrong choice for a genuinely standard brochure site
  • We must be honest about what it should not be used for

If your requirements really are standard, a ready-made platform will serve you well and we will say so on the first call.

WHAT YOU ACTUALLY GET

A platform you own, not a licence you rent.

  • Content model shaped to your business
  • Content management system your team can actually use
  • Application logic for your specific processes
  • Role-based permissions and audit trails
  • Integrations with the systems you already run
  • Security hardening and a documented update path
  • Performance budget agreed and met
  • Full source code and repository access
  • Documentation and staff training
  • A support arrangement, not a dependency

HONEST SCOPE

Is this the right thing to buy?

GOOD FIT WHEN

Your process does not match how ready-made software expects to work You are working around the same limitation repeatedly The information on the site matters enough that its security does

WAIT, OR DO SOMETHING ELSE FIRST

A straightforward brochure site with standard pages — use a template You need it live in two weeks on a small budget Nobody internally will own the content once it is built

COMMON QUESTIONS

The things people ask first.

Is a purpose-built platform really more secure than a popular one?

Not because our code is inherently better — because there is far less of it, and none of it is publicly catalogued. When a vulnerability in a widely used extension is disclosed, every site running it becomes a target the same day, and attackers scan for them automatically. A platform running a handful of components nobody else runs is not in that queue.

Are you saying open-source software is bad?

No. We build on open-source foundations ourselves and they are excellent. The problem is not the software; it is assembling twenty independent extensions from twenty maintainers with twenty different standards, and calling the result a system.

What if you disappear? At least a popular platform has many developers.

Fair, and the answer is ownership. You get the source code and the repository. It is written in mainstream languages with documentation, so another competent team can pick it up. That is a stronger position than depending on an abandoned plugin with no source you are allowed to change.

Can our team still edit the site ourselves?

Yes, and usually more easily. A purpose-built content management system shows your team the fields that exist in your business rather than a generic editor with four hundred settings, of which the wrong one breaks the layout.

It costs more than a template. Why is that worth it?

It is not always. If your requirements are standard, it is not worth it and we will tell you. It becomes worth it when you are working around limitations weekly, paying for licences you resent, or holding information whose exposure would genuinely hurt.

What about updates and long-term maintenance?

There is far less to update, and we wrote what there is. Updates are planned rather than reactive, and nothing breaks because two unrelated extensions disagreed about a shared library.

Tell us what your business does that the template cannot.

Describe the thing you keep working around. We will tell you honestly whether it justifies a purpose-built platform, or whether something ready-made would serve you better.

We use what you send and basic submission data to assess and reply to your enquiry, prevent misuse and keep an enquiry record. See our privacy policy.
